So Many Dresses!
Congratulations to the winner:
Sandra Vassallo from Rozell, New South Wales, Australia
Heartfelt thanks all of you who sent photos of your summer dresses...there were over 50 entrants, and they are wonderful! It was hard to choose...we had to vote more than once to make the final decision. We loved the simple design of Sandra's dress, how great it looks on her and appreciate all the small details that accent the fabric AND the successful way she used the fabric itself.
I am putting together a Summer Newsletter that will show ALL the photos of the dresses that were submitted. Be patient, it is an overwhelming task, but I'll post in the next week or so and will announce the publication via this blog and on FaceBook as well linking it to my e-mail newsletter.
Do click on the link above and sign up to receive my e-mail newsletter, which is different from this blog.
In Sandra's Own Words:
Your Summer Dress Sew-Along was the perfect incentive to sew this unique fabric, purchased from you a while back. Since it is an eco fabric made from pieced men's shirting, a simple loose shirt style dress seemed in keeping and will be cool to wear in the hot weather. I left the fabric joins in their eco (raw) state and really enjoyed the unexpectedness of working with this fabric. To add a feminine touch I used the pleated StyleArc Suzie Top (lengthened to make a shirt dress), and embellished the design with:
* a faux sleeve tab pocket
* reclaimed shirt labels at the neckline, back yoke and inside facing
* reclaimed shirt buttons with the smaller sleeve tab buttons (plus the spare button) used in triplet to define the waist
* a narrow rolled shirt hem (kept straight to reflect the lines of the pieced fabric)
A lot of fun! Thanks for hosting the sew-along and for your great website, packed with interesting fabulous fabrics as well as lots of inspiration.
