Studio Visit with Diane Ericson
Diane came for a weekend visit. We had great conversations, amazing meals. She made her signature healthy, delicious biscuits which she puts together the way she creates clothing, riffing and improvising.
We played in the studio, sat on the deck and of course, Diane cruised the fabric in the ArtBarn.
She flipped over our Green Jeans Linen.
Diane does not use fabric in ordinary ways and I always enjoy following her around as she shops and chooses and wonder what she will do with it.
Watch this video on how she might use this fabulous and unusual fabric.
Diane continues the Design Outside the Lines retreats, and has spaces still available for the Taos retreat next month. Diane has scheduled 2014 retreats in Santa Barbara in February and Ashland in June.
Back in my studio, I'm working on an upcoming Vogue pattern....a jacket and pant, my version of a 'suit', slated for release in late Fall 2014. Gwen Spencer came for a quick visit and we hammered out some of the details and instructions for this pattern, and she whipped up the prototype pants in a morning using the same Black Magic mentioned below....this really is a magic fabric.
In between that project I'm whipping up pants using my new pattern, Vogue 8929 in our Black Magic stretch woven, making both versions in the same FABULOUS fabric. Stay tuned for a report in a future blog.
I am thrilled to hear that my coat, Vogue 8934 is the #1 seller and pant, Vogue 8929 is #3 in the latest pattern releases. If you are sewing either of these patterns, I'd love to see the results.
Don't miss the irrepressible Shams' post on the pants.
I'm off to a celebratory weekend in Ashland with dear friends.
The ArtBarn will be closed on Monday/Labor Day.
